Tailbone update
Well, I had my 4th acupuncture appointment last Tuesday and I’m feeling like a million bucks. Acupuncture has alleviated between 80 - 90% of the pain that I was experiencing with my tailbone… I assume I will have to just deal with some level of pain as the acupuncturist thought my tailbone was exhibiting arthritic behavior. Nonetheless, acupuncture has worked much better than any of the other procedures I’ve had done and it really has improved the quality of my life exponentially! I highly recommend people to give this a try.. see if it works for you too!
A brief description of my typical acupuncture appointment:
1. Upon entering the room I dress down to my undies and lay face up (supine) on the massage table. I then have pins inserted in my hands, top of my feet, shins, and possibly forehead and top of my head. The acupuncture points will vary depending on the intent of the session, my last session was to address tension, relaxation, tailbone, and respiratory.
2. After 10 minutes or so of laying there relaxing, the acupuncturist comes back in and removes the pins. I roll over to lay on my stomach (prone) and pins are inserted into my tailbone, several covering my back, neck, legs. During the last session I had some in my ankles which sent electric-like feelings throughout the bottom of my feet..it felt a little odd (maybe a little surprising) at first but dulled away to no feeling after a few seconds.
3. I’m left to relax for another 20 minutes or more. The acupuncturist comes back in the room, removes all of the pins and gives me a brief massage on my legs and back..
I’ve backed off on the frequency of my sessions to every 2 weeks to see how things progress.. If at some point I’m able to back off to monthly appointments that would be great but acupuncture has helped with more than just my tailbone pain… I’ve got a much better attitude, my blood pressure is down 5 or more points on average, and oh yea my tailbone isn’t nearly as painful!!
Welp, that pretty much covers it for now.. I’ll report back after awhile to give a status update as to how things are progressing.
Happy Friday!
Here’s an exhibition I wish I could see!
Today is the final day of the 57th Exhibition of the Shoso-in Treasures in Nara National Museum in Japan. The exhibition includes 69 various japanese national treasures dating as far back at 700AD. Every piece described on the website, and all of the pictures attached are outstanding!! I can’t do this collection any justice by my description so I’ll end here and suggest you take a minute to atleast go look at the pictures.. While you’re there, check out the ornately painted Go stones and the Red Sandalwood Go board!
