English IPA, 2nd in its category.

03.26.2009

secondplaceipaI just got the competition results back, and my English IPA (Brew #52) scored a 2nd place out of 14 in its category at the KLCC Homebrew Competition. Its funny, this beer did surprisingly well for being as simple as it is, using only 1 malt, 1 hop, and 1 yeast. This was originally supposed to be entered in the Corvallis Brew Supply English IPA Challenge, but I missed the entry deadline by 3 days.. doh!

Brew #61: 8p

Had a great brew session on Saturday, pretty much hit all of the numbers I was looking for.. maybe a little short on the gravity because I didn’t get all of the wort evaporated that I was expecting.

Brew #60 : !

03.14.2009

I’m shooting for a mildly bitter, yet hop flavor and aroma forward English IPA.. cept I won’t be using English yeast or noble hops.. hah! This is a departure from my first English IPA which was brewed for a local homebrew challenge, and geared more toward a repeatable easy drinking tasty beer that you can enjoy in the summer, naked, in your hammock out back.
